17th March 2008

COBALZ today announced the grant of Australian patent 2002251315 entitled: ‘A method for treating or preventing a functional vitamin B12 deficiency in an individual and to medical compositions for use in said method’

COBALZ seeks an Australian company to help develop this exciting new approach to treating and preventing dementia

The COBALZ patent concerns the use of special forms of vitamin B12 called ‘thiolatocobalamins.’  These show extremely promising effects in protecting cells against the harmful effects of homocysteine in laboratory tests

Neil McCaddon - Head of Licensing & Corporate Development for COBALZ - said: ‘The grant of an Australian patent is yet another significant milestone for COBALZ.  We look forward to continuing our ongoing research and development with these compounds’
